What is Fur Feast?
Fur Feast is an annual furry potluck held around Thanksgiving.
Is Fur Feast a convention?
It isn’t a convention per say, we like to call it a mini con though.
What is there to do at Fur Feast?
Since we aren’t a convention, we don’t have panels but that doesn’t mean there isn’t stuff to do! We have several attendees who bring their collection of board games and are more than happy to let people play them if they are careful with them. Of course there is always socializing and making friends. If the weather is nice, we have a bean bag toss game that can be played in or out of fursuit.
How much does it cost to attend?
It depends on what level of registration you do. We have 4 levels; regular, regular +shirt, sponsor, and super sponsor. Those prices are $10, $20, $15, and $25 respectively. In addition to the registration fee, we require attendees to bring a food dish to share.
Why do we have to bring food AND pay?
Because it is a potluck! The registration fee is to help pay for the t-shirts, building rental, etc. We keep the price low because we ask people to bring food to share.
What if I don’t want to/can’t bring a food item?
Well, it is kind of the point of a potluck…but if you can’t, don’t want to, or forget to bring a food item, we will be having an additional fee of $5. This is to pay for extra food if we need to go out and buy something to make sure there is enough.
Ok, so can I bring non food items?
While you are welcome to bring stuff like plates, silverware, etc, it does not count as a food item for the potluck. We provide these items already.
I am allergic to (blank), what do I do?
When registering, please fill out the medical information so that we know all of your allergies and can be sure to have each dish marked. We take allergies very seriously and do everything we can to avoid cross contamination. However, if you feel uncertain about something please use your best judgement. We are not responsible for allergic reactions due to negligence.
What kind of food should I bring?
Bring something you like to make, or something you just like. It can be homemade, or store bought. We don’t mind! Please pay attention to the Who’s Coming list to see what others are bringing so we don’t have repeats or too many similar dishes.
Can I cook my food item there?
We have limited appliances for people to use to heat up their food if it has gotten cold. But please have it fully cooked before arriving. If you need to use an appliance, please check with staff first. We all have to share, so please don’t hog the equipment.
I registered and paid, but I can’t attend afterall, can I get a refund?
Yes, you can get a refund. However, we cannot refund your registration fee until after the event. If you find out you can’t make it, please let us know before the event if possible. If not we will work with you on a case by case basis.
If I register online, can I pay at the door? Can I still get the preregistration price?
Of course! We can take cash and/or card at the door. If you preregistered online and pay at the door, you can still get the discounted price.
I don’t know if I can make it, should I still sign up?
Yes, please sign up if there is a possibility you are going to attend. This helps us plan for how many people will be there and what dishes will be there. It’s better to plan for too many, than not enough.
I have something I want to donate to the silent auction/raffle, how do I get it to you? Where does the money go?
First off, thank you for the interest in donating something! You can either give it to one of our staff before the event (at a furmeet, etc) or give it to us at the event.
I heard that it is a lock-in, what does that mean?
A lock-in is where after a certain time (after the movie) we will clear out all the tables and all set up our own beds and spend the night inside the building. The doors will be locked and we expect everyone that is spending the night to be inside and quiet. There is the option to camp outside if you wish, but remember that this is Kansas in November and therefore it may be freezing. If camping, an additional tent fee must be paid to the park office.
Do I have to spend the night? If I don’t can I still have breakfast?
No, you are not required to spend the night. Some people don’t feel comfortable sleeping around others and would like to go home for the night. That is perfectly fine and you are welcome to come back in the morning for breakfast (as long as it’s still breakfast time when you come back).
This all sounds really awesome! What time should I arrive?
It is really awesome! We look forward to it just as much as you, but as staff we need time to set up things. Because of this, we ask that attendees not arrive before noon on the first day. This gives us the time we need to get everything ready for all you lovely people.
I have a question that isn’t answered here, what should I do?
Feel free to send us an email through our contact page and we’ll do our best to answer your questions!
